Supported Employment Programs in Los Angeles

Real-World Job Training for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Giant Steps Supported Employment Programs provide real-world job training and paid employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs across Los Angeles County. Our programs are designed to help individuals build confidence, develop job skills, and achieve long-term success in the workforce.

We offer two types of Supported Employment services tailored to meet different needs and goals:

Individual Supported Employment Program (SEP – HX1194)

Personalized Job Placement & Career Support

Our Individual Supported Employment Program focuses on helping participants secure competitive, integrated jobs within the community. We take a personalized approach by understanding each individual’s strengths, interests, and support needs.

Our experienced job developers assist participants with:

  • Career exploration and goal setting

  • Resume building and job applications

  • Interview preparation and job placement

  • Customized employment opportunities

  • Ongoing job coaching and workplace support

Our goal is to empower individuals to achieve long-term employment success, with support that gradually decreases as independence grows.

Group Supported Employment Program (SEP – HX1328)

Team-Based Work Experience with Ongoing Support

Our Group Supported Employment Program offers small group work opportunities in community-based settings, including vending routes and our thrift store operations. Participants work alongside peers while receiving continuous guidance from a dedicated job coach.

This program focuses on:

  • Learning job responsibilities and daily routines

  • Developing essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and reliability

  • Improving productivity, accuracy, and independence

  • Gaining hands-on work experience in a supportive environment

Group Supported Employment is ideal for individuals who thrive in a structured, team-oriented setting while earning wages and building transferable job skills.

Building Meaningful Employment Opportunities

Across both Individual and Group Supported Employment Programs, our mission is to connect capable individuals with meaningful employment opportunities that align with their skills and interests. At the same time, we partner with local businesses to meet workforce needs—creating a successful and sustainable outcome for both employees and employers.
