Job Training

Giant Steps Supported Employment Programs provides real-world job training and paid work opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs.

We offer two types of Supported Employment:

Individual Supported Employment (Individual SEP)
In Individual SEP, we support people in competitive, integrated jobs in the community. Our job developers get to know each person’s strengths, interests, and support needs, then help them:

  • Explore careers and build resumes

  • Apply and interview for jobs

  • Secure customized job placements

  • Receive ongoing job coaching and on-the-job training as needed

The goal is long-term success and growth on the job, with support that can fade over time as the person becomes more independent.

Group Supported Employment (Group SEP)
In Group SEP, small groups of participants work together at community-based work sites such as our vending routes and thrift store. A job coach is present to provide ongoing training, supervision, and support with:

  • Learning job tasks and routines

  • Building soft skills like teamwork, communication, and reliability

  • Increasing speed, accuracy, and independence

Group SEP is a great option for individuals who benefit from working alongside peers while still earning a wage and developing marketable skills.

Across both Individual and Group Supported Employment, our focus is to connect capable people with meaningful work that matches the needs of local businesses, creating a win–win for both the employee and the employer.
